Visual Description

The Ref. 2466 is the midsize Tank Française in 18k yellow gold: a 25 × 30 mm case on an integrated gold bracelet, with black Roman numerals, blued steel sword hands and a date window at 3 o'clock. Antiquorum catalogs the dial as off-white with the secret signature in the VII, and Artcurial as white.

Reference Significance

The 2466 is the midsize Tank Française in solid gold with a date. Antiquorum and Artcurial catalog it as a 25 × 30 mm 18k yellow gold quartz, Artcurial on a gold bracelet with a date window and Antiquorum on the Cal. 175A. Retail listings sell the same description as W50014N2, and one pairs the two numbers; until an auction house or established dealer prints both on one watch, Archiva lists the watch under 2466 alone.

The midsize gold Ref. 1821 is a different watch: Antiquorum and Bonhams catalog it with no date window, and Bonhams gives the Cal. 157.06.

Historical Context

Artcurial dates one 2466 circa 2000. Antiquorum's 2006 catalog says its example was made circa 1990, before the model's introduction in 1996, so that dating reads as an error.

What to Look For

Read the case back for 2466; a midsize gold case marked 1821 with no date window is a different reference. Look for 18k gold marks (750) on the case back and clasp, the same gold color across the bracelet links, no play between links and a clasp signed Cartier. Some examples are diamond-set: Antiquorum sold a 2466 with diamond-set bezel sides.

How to tell it apart

What separates a Ref. 2466 from its neighbors, and what to check before you buy or sell one.

What is the Tank Française Ref. 2466?

The midsize Tank Française in 18k yellow gold: a 25 × 30 mm case on an integrated gold bracelet, with a quartz movement, a white or off-white dial and a date window at 3 o'clock. Antiquorum and Artcurial both catalog it as Ref. 2466.

Is the 2466 the same watch as the W50014N2?

Probably, but it isn't confirmed. Retail listings sell a midsize gold Tank Française with a date as W50014N2, and one of them pairs that number with 2466. Archiva has not found an auction house or established dealer that prints both numbers on one watch, so read the case back, where the 2466 is engraved.

How is the 2466 different from the gold Refs. 1821 and 1840?

The 1821 is also a 25 × 30 mm 18k gold quartz, but Bonhams catalogs it with the Cal. 157.06 and no date window. The 1840 is the large 28 × 32 mm gold automatic with a date.

What should I check on a gold Tank Française bracelet?

18k gold marks (750) on the case back and clasp, the same gold color across every link, no play between links, and a clasp signed Cartier.
