Visual Description

The Ref. 0906 is a small round Santos with an octagonal bezel held by screws, made in one metal throughout. Van Ham and Amsterdam Watch Company measure gold examples at 24 mm, WannaBuyAWatch and Analog/Shift steel examples at 25 mm, and Monaco Legend a diamond-set gold example at 26 mm. Van Ham describes a white lacquered dial with black Roman numerals and blued hands; dealers have sold burgundy dials in gold and in steel, and a matte gray dial in steel. The integrated bracelet has the screwed Santos links and a folding clasp, in gold on gold cases and steel on steel cases.

Reference Significance

The 0906 is the single-metal ladies' Santos Octagon, and the Ref. 0907 is the same small case in steel with a gold bezel. The pairing follows the larger Santos Octagons, the single-metal Ref. 2965 and the steel and gold Ref. 2966, and the ladies' square Santos, the single-metal Ref. 0901 and the steel and gold Ref. 0902. Like the 0901, it runs on an ETA 2670 base, which Van Ham and Monaco Legend both catalog.

Monaco Legend cataloged a diamond-set example as Reference 9060 and wrote the number as 09060 in its description, a form of 0906 with the leading zero dropped.

Historical Context

Van Ham dates a gold example to around 1980, and Amsterdam Watch Company, WannaBuyAWatch and Monaco Legend date others to the 1980s. Analog/Shift dates a steel example to the 1990s. Exact production years are not established.

What to Look For

Case number: It should begin 0906; the serial follows straight on, as in Van Ham's 09060164.

Movement: The automatic should wind and keep time. Van Ham and Monaco Legend give the Cal. 2670.

Bezel and bracelet: Check that the bezel screws are all present with undamaged slots, that the bracelet has no stretch or replaced links, and that the folding clasp closes firmly. On gold examples, look for wear and heavy polishing.

Gem-set examples: Check that every stone on the bezel and bracelet is present and secure.

How to tell it apart

What separates a Ref. 0906 from its neighbors, and what to check before you buy or sell one.

What is a Cartier Santos Ronde Ref. 0906 worth?

Archiva has found one public sale of Ref. 0906 in the last three years: $2,300 at Dorotheum in December 2024. One sale is a rough guide, not a market price. For comparison, from November 2023 to November 2026: 24-27 mm ladies, steel or steel and gold automatic or quartz (Ref. 0906, 0907, 8191, 81912 and 81913): $1,300 to $2,250, median $1,900 across 6 sales, one of them Ref. 0906.

What is the Santos Octagon Ref. 0906?

The ladies' Santos Octagon in one metal: a round case of 24 to 26 mm with an octagonal bezel held by screws, in 18k yellow gold or stainless steel throughout, an automatic movement that Van Ham and Monaco Legend give as the Cal. 2670, and an integrated screw-link bracelet with a folding clasp. Dated examples run from about 1980 into the 1990s.

My watch or a listing says 9060. Is that the same reference?

Most likely. Monaco Legend cataloged a 26 mm gold automatic Santos Octagon on the Cal. 2670 as Reference 9060 and wrote the number as 09060 in its description, and Van Ham recorded a gold example's case number as 09060164. The leading zero is easy to drop, so read the full number on the case back.

How is the 0906 different from the Ref. 0907?

By metal. Both are small automatic Santos Octagons of 24 to 26 mm. The 0906 is made in one metal throughout, 18k yellow gold or stainless steel; the 0907 is stainless steel with an 18k yellow gold bezel and gold screws.

How is it different from the Ref. 2965 and the square Ref. 0901?

The 2965 is the larger single-metal Santos Octagon, 29 to 30 mm, with a date at 3 o'clock. The 0901 is the ladies' single-metal automatic in the square Santos case, 24 × 35 mm. The 0906 is the small round case with the octagonal bezel.

What should I check before buying a Ref. 0906?

The case number on the back, which should begin 0906; the bezel screws, all present with undamaged slots; on gold examples, the case and bracelet for wear and heavy polishing; the bracelet for stretch, with a folding clasp that closes firmly; and the automatic, which should wind and keep time.
