Visual Description

The Ref. 1320 is the small Panthère in stainless steel, 21 to 22 mm wide, with a square case whose back is secured by eight screws. Antiquorum gives 22 × 30 mm and a thickness of 5 mm. The case runs into an integrated steel link bracelet that closes with a signed double folding clasp.

The dial is silvered, cream or ivory, with Roman numerals, read by blued steel sword hands. Antiquorum notes Cartier's secret signature at X on its example.

Reference Significance

The 1320 is the small size of the steel Panthère, below the medium Ref. 1310 and the Jumbo Ref. 1300. It shares its size with the steel and gold Ref. 1120, and Fellows catalogs both on the Cal. 157 quartz movement.

Historical Context

Cartier introduced the Panthère in 1983. Dated 1320s run from about 1990 to 2003: Smith & Singer dates one to about 1990, and Antiquorum records another as made in 2003 and sold new in November 2004.

What to Look For

Case back: It should carry 1320 and a serial number.

Bracelet and clasp: The steel bracelet should have all its links and a signed double folding clasp that closes firmly.

Dial and hands: The Roman numerals should be clean and the hands blued steel.

Movement: It should be quartz and running. Smith & Singer catalogs it as the Cal. 157, with the case, dial and movement signed.

How to tell it apart

What separates a Ref. 1320 from its neighbors, and what to check before you buy or sell one.

What is a Panthère de Cartier Ref. 1320 worth?

Public auction and dealer results for Ref. 1320 from November 2023 to November 2026 come to $2,900 to $3,050, with a median of $3,050 across 3 sales of this exact reference. The most recent was $3,100 at Hampton Estate Auction in September 2026. Condition, service history, and the original box and papers move an individual watch within that range.

What is the Panthère Ref. 1320?

The small Panthère in stainless steel: a case 21 to 22 mm wide with its back secured by eight screws, a silvered, cream or ivory dial with Roman numerals, blued steel hands, the Cartier Cal. 157 quartz movement and an integrated steel bracelet with a signed double folding clasp. Dated examples run from about 1990 to 2003.

How does the Ref. 1320 differ from the Ref. 1120?

In metal. Both are small quartz Panthères about 22 mm wide, and Fellows catalogs both on the Cal. 157. The 1320 is all stainless steel; the 1120 has a gold bezel and a steel and gold bracelet. The larger steel Panthères carry other numbers, the medium Ref. 1310 and the Jumbo Ref. 1300.

What should the case back of a Ref. 1320 read?

The number 1320 and a serial. Fellows prints one as 1320 0, and the serials recorded at auction take several forms, such as 633121UF, 156177CD and C23876.

What movement is in the Ref. 1320?

A Cartier quartz movement, which Fellows and Smith & Singer catalog as the Cal. 157.

What should I check before buying a Ref. 1320?

The number on the case back; a steel bracelet with all its links and a signed double folding clasp that closes firmly; a dial with clean Roman numerals; blued steel hands; and a quartz movement that runs. A Cartier guarantee helps date a watch, like the one offered with an example Antiquorum records as made in 2003.
