Visual Description
The Ref. 1032 is a 38 mm Pasha chronograph with a stainless steel case and an 18k yellow gold bezel. Antiquorum describes Vendôme lugs, sapphire cabochons on the pushers, a screw-down crown on a chain, a sapphire crystal and a case back secured by eight screws.
The dial is silvered, cream or ivory, with three counters for constant seconds, 30 minutes and 12 hours, gilt, champagne or sand-colored, and a date at 6 o'clock. Antiquorum and Fellows describe luminous dot hour markers with a numeral 12. Most examples are on a Cartier steel link bracelet with a folding clasp.
Reference Significance
The 1032 is the steel and gold version of the 38 mm quartz Pasha chronograph. The Ref. 1050 is the same chronograph in steel and the Ref. 30009 the same in 18k yellow gold. The Ref. 1352 is a smaller 35 to 36 mm steel quartz chronograph on the Cal. 212P.
Historical Context
The dated examples run from about 1990 to about 2000: Cambi dates one to around 1990, Antiquorum two to the 1990s, and Christie's and Sotheby's one each to circa 2000. No source found gives the year the reference was introduced or discontinued.
What to Look For
Read the case back for 1032 and the case number beside it. Antiquorum has sold one with a diamond-set gold bezel; Fellows one on a brown alligator strap.
Check that the chronograph starts, stops and resets, that the date changes cleanly, that the cabochons on the pushers and crown are present and that the bracelet closes on a Cartier clasp. Fellows catalogs the movement as the quartz cal. 053; ask for a photograph of it.
