Visual Description
The Ref. 2377 is a Pasha of 35 to 36 mm in stainless steel, cataloged as the Pasha GMT. Fellows describes a calibrated bezel and Sotheby's a case back secured by eight screws. It shows the time, a second time zone and a date.
The dial is most often silvered, with painted Arabic numerals or quarter Arabic numerals, steel baton indexes and luminous dots; Fellows places the date between 4 and 5 o'clock. Antiquorum has cataloged a black dial with a concentric image of the globe and the date above 6. It comes on a Cartier steel link bracelet with a double deployant or folding clasp.
Reference Significance
The 2377 adds a second time zone to the 35 mm steel Pasha. The Ref. 2324 is the steel time and date Pasha of the same size with a magnified date between 4 and 5 o'clock, and the Ref. 2378 the 38 mm steel automatic on the Cal. 191.
Two examples are cataloged without a second time zone: Sotheby's describes a pink mother-of-pearl 2377 of circa 2010 as a center seconds watch with date, and Monaco Legend sold the Le Cirque Animalier Bumblebee, with a yellow enamel honeycomb dial and a diamond-set bezel, as an automatic.
Historical Context
Fellows has sold one 2377 with papers dated February 1998. Antiquorum dates three examples to circa 2000 and one to circa 2002, Sotheby's one to circa 2000 and one to circa 2010, and Monaco Legend one to the 2000s. No source found gives the year the reference was introduced or discontinued.
What to Look For
Read the case back for 2377 and check that the second time zone hand works and the date changes cleanly. Catalogs measure 35 mm (Fellows, Monaco Legend), 35.5 mm (Sotheby's) and 36 mm (Antiquorum, Sotheby's).
Ask for a photograph of the movement: Antiquorum gives the Cal. 191 with 27 jewels and Fellows the cal. 048. Check that the bracelet closes on a Cartier clasp.
