Visual Description
The Ref. 1033 is a 38 mm Pasha in stainless steel with an 18k yellow gold revolving graduated bezel, as Antiquorum describes it. Sotheby's catalogs it as yellow gold and stainless steel.
The dial is silvered guilloché, with a date aperture and a power reserve indicator. Antiquorum has cataloged painted Arabic numerals with applied gold indexes on most examples and painted Roman numerals on one, with luminous blued steel lozenge hands under a sapphire crystal.
Reference Significance
The 1033 adds a power reserve indicator to the 38 mm automatic Pasha. It shares the 38 mm size and the revolving graduated bezel with the steel Ref. 2378, which runs on the Cartier Cal. 191. The steel Ref. 1040 is another 38 mm automatic Pasha with a graduated bezel.
Historical Context
Sotheby's dates one example to circa 1990, and Antiquorum dates others to the 1990s and the late 1990s; Antiquorum notes that one, CC49942, was sold in April 2002. No source found gives the year the reference was introduced or discontinued.
What to Look For
Check that the case back reads 1033 with a CC case number, and ask for a photograph of the movement: Antiquorum and Sotheby's give the Cal. 050 with 21 jewels, and Antiquorum has cataloged one example as the Cal. 149 with 25 jewels. Wind the watch and check that the power reserve indicator moves.
Antiquorum measures one example at 39 mm and the others at 38 mm. Check the gold bezel for wear and that it turns, and whether the steel and gold Cartier bracelet or the steel deployant clasp is present.
